Choose a stable place
General paper-preservation guidance favors clean, cool, relatively dry and stable conditions. Keep collections away from direct sunlight, heat, leaks and large temperature or humidity swings. This is general care information, not a guarantee for every coating or packaging material.
Support your cards
Choose enclosures sized for the item; avoid forcing cards into tight storage. Prevent heavy objects pressing on boxes or binders. Ask a qualified conservator about valuable or fragile items before applying adhesives, cleaning products or repairs.
Handle deliberately
Use clean, dry hands and a clean surface. Organize items to reduce repeated handling. Supportive enclosures and gentle handling help limit avoidable damage to paper objects.
Keep records
Photograph significant items and record set, language, condition, purchase details and location. Keep a separate inventory copy. Inspect for water, pests and environmental changes. Preventive care can reduce risks; it cannot promise a future grade or resale value.
